I did a doodle today as part of a matchbox card set I'm playing around with. Early drafts, but working on concepts and think the next few days/week may be fun. They are based on animals simplified to shape and colour, removing fussy detail and muting the tones to earthy soft hues.
This blog follows my personal challenge to do a doodle everyday for 2015 to show something from my day - an occurrence, a thought, a meeting, some work, news, something that caught my eye, a conversation I had or overheard... in summary, this is my Doodle Diary 2015. And if you fancy, why not share your day with a doodle too.

I did a doodle today for #colour_collective Friday, tasked with incorporating Magenta Haze in to my doodle.
So, on a long train journey down from Scotland, I got into looking at henna decorations of arms and hands. The beautiful, intricate patterns and designs that adorn the slender arms and long fingers of young women. These designs are fascinating and so varied, striking in their pattern formation, yet individual in their artist's paintbrush.
So, here is my first attempt at a design.... I think I may do more as they are wonderful to create.
Happy Friday everyone.

I did a doodle today inspired by champagne, what could be more perfect?
Bubbles aside, for now at least, I am doodling for this week/s #colour_collective, who have set Champagne as the colour to use. So here is my champagne puppy, I've called him Moet.

I did a doodle today after a trip to the cinema. The summer holiday season brings an array of outside-normal-routine activities, lots of extra fun and more than a few extra ice creams. So today, it was the cinema and popcorn. Loving summer holidays.

I did a doodle today because it's hip-hip-hooray, Colour Collective Day.
Today's colour is Forest green and my (very quick) picture is inspired by actual sock puppets made with my Little One. Love creativity at all levels.... though the actual sock puppets are not wearing so well!

I did a doodle today of Adam and Eve (post apple).
My four year old daughter asked me how the first baby got born, because if it was first then it couldn't have had a mummy and daddy to make it! I proceeded to tell her a simplified version of 'Adam and Eve and of 'Evolution' to answer her question.
After a little consideration, she announced that people must have come from animals!

I did a doodle today as a prelim (the before scene) to something I have done today. I can't show the final pic just yet as it is for someone... don't want to ruin the surprise! But SPOILER ALERT, they die! Sorry, can't really sugar-coat it...

I did a doodle today following inspiration from the beauty that comes from Church and Cathedral stained Glass Windows. Works of art, they are now more and more taking on modern twists, commissioned artists working their storytelling magic into the images and colours and use of light that each window holds.
Years ago I visited Moreton Church in Dorset and was mesmerised and transported by the eerily beautiful windows that had been installed, using simplicity and calm through single white etchings to capture the devastation and impacts of the World Wars. So moving, so thought provoking.
So I've been inspired to create my own little set of four windows to depict the transition of day to night, summer to winter. My aim is simplicity, using colour and shapes to illustrate transition, and then (if they were real windows) the movement of the natural light through the pains would bring them to life, literally moving the transition between the windows.
Here is window one, with the window to to come tomorrow.

I did a doodle today inspired by:
1. Walking in the fields amongst the wildflowers, where the poppies (still holding on) stood out amongst the array of greens, whites and purple growth
2. A beautiful bench and art piece erected in the town centre, in memory of those that fought and fell in WW1
3. #Colour_Collective, whose colour selection for tonight is Fire Engine Red.

I did a doodle today continuing my aim to bring my 'Nature's Couture' designs to life in the form of actual couture.
First stage, the basic clothes, full of flowing lines, soft edges and natural colours, creating a natural organic clothing canvas for my designs from nature. Once I have my capsule range, I will remake each outfit in each of the graphic fabric designs from 'Nature's Couture'.
Today, the ra-ra-extra-ra dress.

I did a doodle today, one entirely inspired by two things I love: hats and ice creams/lollies. Now, rumur has it that is is currently summer (mmmmmm, just wondering what has happened to the summer sunshine?), so I would like to embrace that and combine the two loves into lollies and ice creams in hats.
Of course!
Here is Ice Cool picture one (maybe more appropriate to the lack of sun at the moment)!

I did a doodle today after perusing a little book on 1950s vintage patterns. I love the patterns and designs fro this era, so was not surprised that as I flicked through I started seeing how my Nature's Couture could work in this style.
So, inspired by the design below, I went for Lizards today. The top Lizard design was straight from my inspiration and then the bottom came along as I have been looking at Tattoo design too recently... liked the shape (almost Celtic in feel).

I did a doodle today... and then I tweaked it, and then I tweaked it again, and then I tweaked it again, and then again, and I'm still not happy. So please help!
I have gone beetle-inspired today for Nature's Couture, and have created a graphical beetle shape that I love, with rich earthy tones. However, I cannot connect-the-dots, so to speak. The shape of the beetle SCREAMS OUT " P.A.T.T.E.R.N", but I cannot get it to work.
Hold on a minute.
Why do I need the pattern at all? I actually think the simplicity of my beetle graphic is enough pattern in its own right. Nature's couture - strong and simple.
What do you think?

Sometimes life is like a spiraling web of ever-decreasing dimensions. So what happens when a spider's web becomes a web of spiders?

I did a doodle today as the last of my reflection theme. A little different today, how a reflection acts as a distortion as water ripples the image into a beautiful mess. Uniformity blurred, but beauty unaffected.
