16th May 2015

I did a doodle today after seeing a funny posting on Facebook that made me chuckle, but at the same time felt like, at last, people had recognised a great travesty of life...

Sorry to all you teetotalers out there, but if you'd met my family then you'd realise we are a family who like our wine! and hence, where my sense of humour comes from...

Happy Saturday.

15th May 2015

I did a doodle today as hip hip hooray, it's Colour Collective day. This week's colour is Cerulean Blue and I actually have cheated a little bit as I have been working on a couple of projects, so I've used some prelim illustration doodles and incorporated in this week's #colour_collective colour!

So here they are...

14th May 2015

I did a doodle today, lots and lots of (mainly bonkers) doodles as part of a illustration event. Led by the lovely Kim Dalziel, illustrator extraordinaire to the fashion world, Harrods and Michelin chefs of this world, a group of us wannabe-illustrators took up our pencils and giggles our way to some crazy, but liberating, techniques.

Using our non-writing hand and without looking at the paper (at all!) we had to draw things/people around us. Hilarious Picasso esque abstracts adorned our pages, but gradually we learnt to be more free with our lines.

As we progressed we aimed to turn photos we had into illustrations...

Here's how my day went on paper!

13th May 2015

I did a doodle today as I've got a (sort of) commission to do some glass painting. Armed with my brief, I have a tile to 'blend' my work to, so I am fired up and rating to go. So today, prelim pattern and colours...

Simple design to be developed and incorporated with some calligraphy...

Getting excited already!

12th May 2015

I did a doodle today, well actually I've been doing illustrations for one of the Children's Books I am working on. One of the things I find so sad about illustrating are those lovely little creatures, characters and scenes that don't actually make it in to the book. Maybe they were not quite the right colours or shapes, maybe there simply wasn't the space for them or perhaps, and this is so often the case, they don't quite look like how I'd imagined them in my head.

This results in a number of little critters and people, flowers and trees, being left to spend their days in an archive file on my PC. So today, I am letting one of them roam free on the pages of my blog. He was a test doodle/scribble I did as I tried out colours and styles, and he is too cute to hide away, even if he isn't anywhere near as cute as the one that has made the book...

So here is 'the-one-that-didn't-quite-cut-it'.

10th May 2015

I did a doodle today to add to my Royal of Princesses. This makes three, so I think tyhe collective term can come in to play now.

So, joining Rapunzel (Friday's #Colour_Collective doodle) and Ariel (yesterday's doodle), may I introduce Snow White.

"Don't eat it!"
