20th June 2015

I did a doodle today because my daughter loves me more than chocolate and cake. And if you know my daughter, you'll realise just how much she much love me!

So a cakey-love message seemed in order and love is scrummy, so here is today's cupcake doodle.

PS. My daughter's theory was put to the test later on in the day when she point-blank refused to share any party cake with me. So maybe she loves me a little less than cake, but hopefully still more than chocolate...

19th June 2015

I did a doodle today, a blue-grey doodle for #colour_collective.

Having spent the past week on my haute couture kaleidoscope of butterflies (Read more here, and find out how nature turns an army into a kaleidoscope >), I had to try to think of something non-fluttery, and maybe tone down the colours a bit to fit with the blue-grey challenge set.

So for no particular reason, except possibly that I am overwhelmingly tired at the moment, I have done a pretty four poster bed fit for a princess, or a very tired doodler (me!).

Happy Colour Collective Friday everyone.

18th June 2015

I did a doodle today after a day trekking in the Black Mountains, and trekking in the best possible way... on four legs.

Horses, mountain air, lush greens and jagged rocks, wild ponies, birdsong and the rhythmic clip clip clip clop. Can't really get much more inspired.

So a more earthy colour palette for today's butterfly haute couture: back to the rugged welsh mountains and endless hues of bracken greens, tree browns, sunshine yellows and wildflowers colour bursts.

17th June 2015

I did a doodle today whilst on hold.

I phoned a 'service provider' and was put on hold until someone was free to talk to me. After a few minutes I put the phone on speaker and started today's butterfly. 32 minutes later, butterfly is finished and I'm still on hold. At least I was making the best use of the time.

So it turns out that telephone-hold-monotomy is quite inspirational. I think my creativity drifted with my mind as the hold music floated through the digitalised speaker... up, up, up and away into the clouds and the pretty hues of early summer. Enough to make you smile, even when on hold for over half an hour!

16th June 2015

I did a doodle today and another haute couture butterfly spread its multicoloured wings and flew out from my imagination.

I would like to say something about my made-up butterflies. They are indeed made up and not at all real butterflies species, yet I have taken the time to study the forms and shapes of butterfly wings and bodies, and be wondered by the amazing array of patterns and colours. Mother Nature was truly smiling the day she created butterflies, for even the simple mono-coloured varieties have an intricacy in their wing structure, with the finest of lines patterning their fluttering.

#BeautifulCreatures.

Here's my butterfly number four.

15th June 2015

I did a doodle today and flutterby-butterfly number three was born, dressed in nature's very finest haute couture. The collection is beginning to take fabulous fashion shape, with the new season butterfly range due to hit the garden runways this summer.

I am definitely going to come up with some suitably whimsical latinesque names for each one, but think I will let a few more come out in creation first.

Here's made-up butterfly number three.

14th June 2015

I did a doodle today to create my second butterfly in my made-up butterfly collection. This is really starting to get interesting and fun - I've pre-created my different colour palettes for each butterfly, all based on vibrant earthy nature tones from the world around us and so when I sit down each day, it's all about the flutter-shape and whimsically wonderful designs that form the haute couture of the butterfly world.

So here's today's butterfly. Maybe I should start creating some wonderfully fluttery latinesque names for them...
