23rd May 2015

I did a doodle today because I ate the best burger in the world. Best, because I made it and I ate it in the glorious sunshine in my newly flourishing garden. I love it when hard work finally pays off and you can relax and enjoy your handiwork.

Happy sunny burgerlicious Saturday everyone.

22nd May 2015

i did a doodle today for this week's #colour_collective and the colour olive green.

Heavily and wonderfully lost in book illustrations this week, I had to tear myself away from childhood adventures to get olive-green-creative...

So right outside my door, I found inspiration of the lost little hidden world deep amongst the grass on the field. A bit rushed (sorry) but done in time for this week's Colour Collective.

Ps still no internet, so this is a photo of my pc monitor!

21st May 2015

I did a doodle today and have stolen some little bits from my current book illustrations... Enjoying them far too much not to share!

Unfortunately my internet is not working today (technical issues due to a fault on the line, that is under investigation but no fix time stated as yet!), which means I have no means of transferring doodle from pc to blog except via my limited mobile 3G signal.

So here is a photo of my onscreen doodle!

Still sweet.

20th May 2015 - Guest Doodle

My daughter did a doodle today! and blew me away in the process...

Always watching and interested in what I'm doing, my four year old asked if she could do a drawing on my computer using my graphics drawing pad. She's once had a go with Adobe Illustrator (the results I previously posted on this blog), but she'd never had a go with my (very basic) graphics pad, so imagine my surprise when she produced the image below!

Now it is worth noting that my graphics pad is not one of those (rather useful) ones where you can look at the pad and see what you are drawing - oh no, you have to watch your computer screen... a special kind of multi-tasking/co-ordination required!

Apparently, she tells me, it is her at ballet school. Obviously. And 'wow'. All I did was change the colours for her and the brush thicknesses - the rest is 100% her work.

I think I may have a budding illustrator in the making :)

My graphics pad!

20th May 2015

I did a doodle today, but only after strumming my fingers on my desk for a while trying to think what to doodle. I suddenly realised that I was staring out my window as I wracked my brains, and there it was, literally staring me in the face. Doodle what you see, especially when it is a pretty vase of flowers in front of a window out to the wonderful blue sky and green grass.

I think this little vase of flowers may well be making an appearance in tomorrow's book illustrations... keep your eyes peeled.

I initially stopped at the vase and flowers in isolation, but how foolish not to include such a beautiful day in the background!

19th May 2015

I did a doodle today, which is actually a little tiny part of one of the book illustration pages I've been working on today. Taken from a grown up's bedroom, this pretty little dresser isn't the only thing that has caught a little person's eye...

I am having such fun this week and the creativity and inspiration seems to be flowing in abundance, which is why I don't want to stop. So bye for now, hope you like this teeny little taster...

18th May 2015

I did a doodle today. Well, four actually, though they are all only ickle little ones...

Yes! It is Ickle Monday, hurrah.

As a little challenge to myself, I decided to try to do four quick doodle-dumps (sounds a bit yuck!) by creating four ickle tigers without looking at a picture of a tiger and spending no more than 20 mins on all four.

Looking at the results, I feel this was a tad ambitious, but a giggle (and liberating) none the less.

Happy Ickle Monday everyone.

17th May 2015

I did a doodle today following two bits of inspiration from two different sources:

Firstly, on Friday I met a lovely lady who is a silversmith, and makes the most beautiful and unusual pieces of jewellery. I have always had a yearning to learn to make jewellery, working with precious metals and gemstones.

Secondly, earlier today I had a lovely chat with my lovely Aunt in Australia, and she mentioned that she was about to start a painting of a crystal that had captured all the colours of the rainbow. My aunt is beautifully spiritual and I imagined her delicately painting auras captured in their prisms.

So I decided to have a go at both in today's doodle... and here is my diamond ring.
